Introducing SprintApp

sprintapp

Project management and time tracking should be easy. SprintApp is simple to use so you can focus on running your business and focus on what you do best.

I developed and launched SprintApp after using several competing products over the years and realizing that each offered some feature that I loved, but lacked other important core features.  SprintApp aims to provide the best experience for project management.

Tennessee ADR Finder

ADR-Finder

The Tennessee ADR Finder was an iPhone application I developed in early 2011 for a local lawyer who also taught classes for continued education in the law field.  He had developed a useful pocket-guide for TN state laws and wanted to turn that into a mobile application for users, and to help raise awareness of his online courses.

I developed a Ruby on Rails application for content entry in converting all PDF content into searchable/indexable binary-PLIST for the iPhone application to consume. I also developed & designed the iPhone application. As of November 2011, I’m waiting for approval on an estimate to bring the application to Android, built upon the Adobe AIR platform.  I will be utilizing the same Rails application, with small modifications for export via XML.

Tip Counter App

Introducing my fourth iPhone application, and the second iPhone application developed for myself – Tip Counter.

Tip Counter grew from my days as a server. I might have been somewhat compulsive, but I always kept track of my tips and how much I worked, so I could figure up what I was really bringing in – and what my true hourly rate was.  Armed with that information, I was better equipped to make financial decisions, including whether to switch jobs.

Tip Counter lets you enter tips per shift, per job, and see the results.  You can view total or averages, for time periods such as current work week, 7 days, 30 days, current month, etc.

WP Tweet Slideshow

wp-tweet-slideshow

I wrote this WordPress plugin to pull in tweets from a twitter user and display in the theme, in a “news ticker” style slideshow.  This plugin registers a scheduled event to be run once an hour upon plugin activation, so that the feed from twitter is pulled as little as possible.  The information is stored in the database as a custom post type (WordPress 3.0+) to improve efficiency.

This was a huge improvement over my first few attempts at using pure Ajax requests & jQuery to insert into the page. Under heavy traffic, Twitter would block requests. This new method works much better.

PharosPHP Framework

pharos-php

I took over an aged and poorly planned internal PHP framework, and set milestones for must have features. After a period of maintaining backwards compatibility with the updates (this framework runs 7 years worth of projects prior), I was finally able to branch and create a 1.0 version.

My work on the framework includes: structure, MVC, Routing API, Hooks (internal actions to attach callback actions), Caching, and more. Overall, this framework is much more mature and carefully planned, with several features in the works for future releases, and in turn, more projects.

Company/Personal Project (Summer 2009 – Ongoing)

HGTV Design Studio Facebook App

design-studio

Started with PSD comps and built all HTML/CSS/JS, then created a LAMP application integrating with the facebook API. The application is served up inside an iFrame on facebook, and allows users to create/rate/review/comment on home improvement/design projects in real time. The application uses no flash for features & usability (unlike most facebook applications) – so it works beautifully on mobile devices.
